Scooter Battery Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How to charge a Scooter Batteries?
Answer:
To charge your scooter follow these steps:
  • Remove the battery from the scooter. Open the scooter battery chamber and disconnect the battery from the scooter.
  • Place the scooter battery in its charging bed until it is fully charged.  Typically a green light will be displayed when the battery is completely charged.
  • Remove the battery from the charging unit and let it sit for about an hour or two before placing it back into the scooter.
  • Read the voltmeter to make sure it shows between 12.8 and 13.0 volts. If it is not up to at least 12.8 volts, continue charging the battery.

Question: How to test Scooter Batteries?
Answer:
To test your scooter follow these steps:

  • Turn off the scooter and make sure it is not attached to any chargers.
  • From the owner's manual identify the voltage of your scooter battery.
  • Find the positive (red color) and negative (black color) polarities on the battery.
  • Using your voltage meter, attach the red clamp to the positive polar end and the black clamp to the negative polar end of the battery.
  • If the voltage on the voltage meter is the same voltage that is indicated in the manual, then charge the battery. If it is lower, then the battery needs to be shocked. If there is no voltage at all, then the battery needs to be replaced.
