Jump Starter Batteries

A jump starter is a great choice for keeping either in your car or in your garage. It is perfect for those times where your battery is dead and you simply need to jump start it quickly. However, if your jump starter battery is dead then this is not going to help you out at all. Here are some things to keep in mind about the battery for the jump starter.

Buy Another Before it Goes Out

The battery on the jump starter designed to last between 2 and 5 years depending on the make, quality and usage. You should not wait until this time has passed to buy another battery, even if you rarely use it. Think of it as an investment to purchase a spare one a year or so before the other one is set to expire. Finding yourself in a situation where your car battery and jump starter battery are dead at the same time can be frustrating and costly.

Taking Care of Your Battery

There are a few things you can do to make sure that the battery in your jump starter gets as long a life as possible. One is to keep it at room temperature. Extreme temperatures are not good for batteries. If the weather is extremely hot or cold, find a place inside to keep the jump starter. Another thing you can do is to keep it away from anything that might damage it. While the jump starter itself may be water resistant, it often is not resistant to corrosive chemicals often found in garages.
